August "Augie" Baer was an American boxer who was born on June 29, 1922, in Omaha, Nebraska. He was known for his quick footwork and powerful punches, earning him the nickname "Omaha Express." Baer turned professional in 1940 and fought in the featherweight and lightweight divisions. His career was interrupted by World War II, during which he served in the U.S. Army. Baer resumed his boxing career after the war and fought until 1953. He retired with a record of 55 wins, 19 losses, and 1 draw. After retiring, Baer worked as a salesman and later as a manager for a printing company. He passed away on December 8, 2004, at the age of 82.
